Robin Guthrie featured on Halou's new Sawtooth EP

Hi there,
We (Halou) are new to the 4AD tribe but we wanted to share what is exceedingly exciting news for us: We are releasing a new EP and that it features Robin Guthrie!

This EP, entitled the Sawtooth EP will be available on iTunes later this month. It is a prelude to the forthcoming full-length album (yet untitled), which will also feature Robin extensively.

Additionally, both the EP and the album feature cellist Zoe Keating whom you should really check out if you haven't done so yet.

So there you go! New music for the new year.

Anyone else out there swoon over this band as much as I do? Some of the best combinations of poppy melodies, atmospheric music and broody lyrics ever. Only three albums but I listen to them constantly.

A Letter to Elisa

For some Un-Godly reason Elisa didn't get my e-mail response to her 'Lulabies Tattoo' comment. So here goes the reply.

My tattoo is on my right shoulder (which made for a very difficult self-photo). It's exactly the same size as original 12'' Lullabies cover. The detail is amazing and the whole process took about 5 hours back in the golden years of the early 90's. I have several tattoo's but that's the only 4AD one. I was concidering the HNIA logo for a while but time moved on. I'm very proud of it, I've only ever found one other person with it, but there must be hundreds of us out there.

This reaIly isn't a 4AD thread. The album was released on Bella Union. But is it just me or does anyone think the cover to this album would have been better without the 'pubic hair'? It would have been cleverer... because you might not have noticed immediately and who's pubic hair it that anyway? - I seem to remember a quote from Robin in the NME years ago 'I crimp my hair to stop it looking pubic' (Maybe the cover's an 'In Joke')

question about TMC vocals

Some of the recent discussion about TMC inspired me to pull out Filligree & Shadow and give it a listen, which I haven't done in several years. As usual, I was puzzled by one of the strangest songs TMC ever put together, Mama K(2), and I started to wonder who did the vocals, since there's no vocal credit on the song. I thought it could also be a sample, not completely out of Ivo's range, although it doesn't sound like a sample. So does anyone know anything about who did the vocals on this track, or if they were studio vocals at all? Perhaps this question has been raised before in the annals of 4AD fandom history, but I've managed to miss it, so forgive me for being out of the loop.

entire career have been compiled together and offer a unique view of their

available 21 November (Europe) and 22 November (USA) in a worldwide
limited edition of 10,000. The discs are contained in a fold-out package
made of a material that itself sounds like a Cocteau Twins title –

These are the regular versions of the set which will be available early

Hi, I'm new. I've been a 4ADevotee since 1986. I used to play so much 4AD music on my college radio show, my nickname became the 4Adj. Most of the bands I listen to nowadays are "4AD bands who were never signed to 4AD" (based on timing or the band's preference)...Breathless, Verve, Sigur Ros, Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Neko Case, the Be Good Tanyas, 16 Horsepower (filling the void where Tarnation left off)... My greatest record-buying moment would have to be finding a used (but still in good condition) copy of Lilliput in a teeny little unknown indie record store in Mar Vista (now no longer in operation) for $20. I'd like to meet some other 4AD fans in the L.A. area, or even just talk to some online, and reminisce about the old days. I'm sure there are some of you on this list/tribe who attended the 13 Year Itch shows in L.A...? I think somewhere under my bed in an old cassette holder, I have a tape of me, Ian Masters, Lawrence Spiritualized (who played bass for Heidi Berry at the time), Warren Defever and Karin Oliver sitting around a table at the Troubador, drinking, shooting the breeze & talking about nothing. Those were the days.

Myself and some friends are throwing a party called "Love Fest" on
Friday, Feb. 18th. Let's get together and celebrate our love of
Art...Music...Dance...and of course Booze!! There is an option for unlimited
drinks from 9p-11p for $20.
