Right here!! I have been in love with the Painters since 1994...they came to town, but I couldn't go because I was underage.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Red House Painters!

Probably my favorite album would be "Ocean Beach," though there are great songs on every release--"Evil," "Bubble," "Katy Song," "Grace Cathedral Park," "24" and "Dragonflies" come to mind too

so many of his songs are quality .. i love evil too ... when his brother looks at him and says "god you look so evil in the dark" music and lyrics to match .. the first time i saw him live ... i was blown away ... and he is a musical perfectionist ... constantly tracking his bands performance and tuning it ... sweetness .. i miss their shows ....

Love RHP. My favorite record would have to be Rollercoaster. Katy Song always gets me, as do Dragonflies and Mistress. I like much of Songs for a Blue Guitar, too. I was really impressed by the band's live performance. They were tight & well-rehearsed, without seeming to be. Although Kozelek seemed like he could have cared less about the audience & was just doing it for himself. I've also heard he can be rude & self-aggrandizing in interviews. How about some opinions on Sun Kil Moon? What do you think of them?

I seen the Red House Painters play at Pheonix festival in the mid 90's. I'd been listening to them since the Rollercoaster album. Sadly nothing has topped that. I agree with some of the other posts on here that Mark can come across in interviews is an egotistical nightmare. But, for some reason his voice doesn't seem to reflect that on the recordings. The Sun Kil Moon project really isn't up to much. The Red House Painters named after a 'Kick Boxer'????... That's like The Pixies renaming themselves 'The Teletubbies'!

The Red House Painters were excellent LIVE but sadly didn't have the same sonic edge that they have on the CD/Vinyl recording. Not very much to say inbetween tracks either, but I'm sort of getting used to that with 4AD bands.
